Celebrating the Life of Harry Belafonte

A star was born on March 1, 1927, in Harlem, New York.

Harry Belafonte has blazed a trail for generations of Black entertainers. The artist was exceptional as he sold more than a million albums as a singer. As a result of his work, Belafonte was rewarded with Grammys, an Emmy, Tony Award and an honorary Oscar.

As an artist and activist, he was unapologetically Black as he shattered every racial barrier he encountered.
