Texas Inmate To Be Executed, Ex-District Attorney Jackie Johnson Arrested

In the trending legal stories, former Marine John Ramirez who was convicted in the 2004 stabbing of a convenience store worker in Corpus Christi, Texas, is scheduled to be executed tonight.

He has an appeal pending before the U.S. Supreme Court for a stay of execution, based on his request for his spiritual advisor to stand next to him and hold his hand while he is executed.

In the Ahmaud Arbery case, former District Attorney Jackie Johnson was arrested after being indicted last week on charges of violating her oath as a public officer and obstruction of a law enforcement officer over her handling of the case.
