Kevin Samuels’ Mom Learned About Her Son’s Death On Social Media

Beverly Samuels-Burch, the mother of popular YouTube personality Kevin Samuels, said she learned about her son’s death from social media. The grieving mother first confirmed the report when she spoke with NBC News on Friday, shortly after rumors of Samuels’ death circulated on social media, as Blavity previously reported.

“That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified,” she told NBC News on Friday. “All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”

The YouTube star, who amassed more than 1.4 million subscribers, mainly discussed dating and relationships. Some viewed his comments as an attack on Black women. One of the recent controversies included a video where Samuels said women who are over 35 and unmarried are “leftovers.”

“If you have made it to 35 and you are unmarried, you are a leftover woman,” he said, NBC News reports. “You are what is left. Men know that there is something likely wrong with you.
