Alpha Phi Alpha Brothers Assist People Experiencing Homelessness Around New York’s Penn Station

The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. recently took to the streets around New York’s Penn Station to help those experiencing homelessness.

The Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, also known as The Wall Street Alphas, headed to Penn Station on December 4th, 2021 to do their 5th annual Founders’ Day community service project. Chapter brothers distributed 115 bags of personal care products including soap, deodorant, lotion, razors, blankets, socks, PPE masks, and snacks to the houseless community in and around Penn Station, with the goal of not only to providing individuals with care packages but also giving them hope and kindness.

The service project was successful due to fundraising efforts and product donations.

Chapter brothers were able to raise over $1,000 donations from fraternity members and supporters and $1500 in product donations from Bevel, House of A, and The Covenant House. Additionally, the Church of St. Francis Assisi donated space to assemble the personal care bags.

We at Watch The Yard would like to commend these brothers on their continued support of the community.
