Keyshia Cole’s Adoptive Father Passes Away From COVID-19 Complications

Just after four months of losing her biological mother Frankie Lon’s in July, singer Keyshia Cole, 40,  is now grieving the loss of her adoptive father, Leon Cole, who passed away due to COVID-19 complications.

The “Heaven Sent” songstress acknowledged the heartbreaking news when a fan account posted an empathic tweet that said, “I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your father!! I’m praying for you and your family during this difficult time!!”

“Thank you,” the singer retweeted in response.

The singer also posted on Instagram sharing the news of her adoptive father.

“Unfortunately my father didn’t make it through his complications, due to covid-19,” she wrote. “He’s the entire reason my last name is COLE,
The only father I knew, he did such a great job here on earth!!!!! He made sure (Even tho he wasn’t my biological father) to keep a stable foundation and roof over all of our heads during our upbringing!!!!”

“Our many long talks of love and how a man needs to treat a woman. Maybe the reason a man hasn’t been able to hold on to me too long, (LOL) (JK) (But serious) He was the greatest example of love, 51 years of marriage to my mother Yvonne Cole. Seriously the most loving guy I’ve ever known. And he’s gonna be missed so much! I hate that this has happened !!! And that I’ve now lost two beautiful souls within a few months from each other, 💔💜” she continued.

Cole’s adoptive mother, Yvonne Cole, announced the death of her husband on Nov. 13 on her Facebook page, according to BET.

“With a heart of sadness and sincere condolences, we solicit your prayers for Dr. Yvonne Cole and the Cole family in the passing of Mr. Leon Cole, Jr.,” the family statement reads in-part. “You are welcome to leave your prayers and any heart warming messages as they deal with the passion of Mr. Leon Cole Jr., due to COVID-19 complications. We appreciate the support for the family around the world,” the post on Facebook read.

Initially, when word got out about the death of Cole’s father, many thought it was her biological father, Virgil Hunter, prompting people in the boxing community to grieve the loss of the notable boxing coach, reports

We are sending our thoughts and prayers to Keyshia Cole and her family.
