Celebration of Life Held for Jelani Day in His Hometown

BNC correspondent Jenyne Donaldson reports from Danville, Illinois, outside the memorial service for Illinois State University graduate student Jelani Day.

Day was found dead in the Illinois River on Sept. 4 after he went missing at the end of August.

His family is seeking answers, saying the investigation in his death has been met with disrespect by police officials and the medical examiner.

“I need to know what happened to him because Jelani wouldn’t hurt nobody. Jelani shouldn’t have been like that,” his mother, Carmen Bolden-Day, says.
