Nicki Minaj has been on a defensive rampage, coming after elder Joy-Ann Reid and other critics since her original tweet saying that she would not be getting the COVID-19 vaccine until she’s completed more research for herself. But now, the rapper is unleashing a series of posts on Twitter and Instagram, attacking a Trinidadian reporter who she accused of “threatening” her family in response to Minaj’s comments about the vaccine.
Reporter Sharlene Rampersad, who the “Did It On Em” rapper said is harassing her family in Trinidad and Tobago, criticized Minaj for spreading misinformation about the vaccine, Complex reported.
“What Nicki Minaj either does not know or does not care about is Trinidad and Tobago is currently under a state of emergency. Many business sectors are closed and have been for months on end. Vaccination is our way out,” Rampersad tweeted.
But Minaj responded to one of Rampersad’s tweets on Friday, igniting a frenzy among her fanbase.
“You are the one harassing my family???!!?!???! SPEAK UP B4 I BEGIN. I KNOW YOU SEE THIS!!!!!!” she said on Twitter.
When #BallGate started, who knew it would go this far? Nicki Minaj just posted phone numbers of reporters who have contacted her cousin in Trinidad — the one whose friend supposedly had the swollen balls. Swipe.#SharleneRampersad

Minaj took matters to Instagram, sharing a few choice words as well as several screenshots of messages the reporter allegedly sent the “Seeing Green” artist’s family.
“They’re forcing my family to have to hide out. This is what speaking up looks like. Millions of poor people are treated this way by the people you think are the ‘good guys.’ This is unconscionable,” she wrote. “Sharlene Rampersad B***H YOUR DAYS ARE F**KING NUMBERED YOU DIRTY H*E.”
“Threatening my family in Trinidad won’t bode well for you,” she left as an ominous warning before sharing a picture of the woman.
According to her LinkedIn, Rampersad is an investigative reporter with Guardian Media Limited in Trinidad and Tobago.
On Monday, Minaj addressed her reason for not attending the Met Gala, saying she was not getting vaccinated just to attend the annual event, as Blavity previously reported. She continued her explanation for her hesitancy around the vaccine, citing her cousin’s friend who allegedly experienced adverse health complications after getting the shot.
“His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding,” Minaj said, CNN reported.
Her comments sent off a firestorm among conservative and liberal crowds, with many people immediately doubling down on her claims as misinformation.
Trinidad and Tobago’s health minister revealed to the press that his team looked into her claims that the vaccine led to impotence and said “we wasted so much time yesterday running down this false claim.”
Even after all the energy spent taking on Rampersad, Minaj still had some time to clap back at CNN’s Don Lemon who had some choice words for anti-vaxxers during Thursday night’s Cuomo Prime Time.
“The people talking about ‘I don’t know what’s in the shot’ … You know what they get shots in nowadays? In their rear ends, they’re getting shots to make it bigger,” Lemon said. “They’re getting shots in their face. They don’t know what’s in Botox. You don’t have to listen to a minority of people who are being harmful to the greater good and who are not acting on logic, reason and science.”
While it’s unclear if Lemon was speaking directly of Minaj, she didn’t hold back in unleashing her thoughts on his remarks.
“Now if I start discussing what you get in YOUR rear end, I’d be wrong right?” she said. “If you’re ever discussing facts with a person who’s telling you to buy, or get something & you go ‘ok cool, tell me more about it’ and they start insulting you, RUN. Demonizing ppl for asking questions won’t help your cause Uncle Tomiana.”
“He couldn’t wait to deliver that line. He rehearsed it all night. Def has a little d**k. Mad cuz the shot couldn’t fix THAT. 3-4 inches max,” she continued.
This isn’t the first time Minaj has gotten into a public feud with a reporter. Back in 2018, Minaj slid into the DMs of Canadian reporter, Wanna Thompson, telling her to “eat a d**k” after she criticized her music, Global News reported.
“How dope it would be if Nicki put out mature content? No silly s**t,” Thompson tweeted. “Just reflecting on past relationships, being a boss, hardships, etc. She’s touching 40 soon, a new direction is needed.”
The tweet didn’t bode well with Minaj.
“Nicki Minaj exhibited #Queen behaviour when she hopped in my DMs and insulted me numerous times over an innocent music opinion while her fans continue to harass me and DM me death threats. This is NOT okay,” Thompson tweeted.
After listing songs she deemed as “mature,” Minaj sent Thompson a lengthy message.
“When ya ugly ass was 24, you were pushing 30? I’m 34. I’m pushing 40? Lol. And what does that have to do with my music?” she wrote. “When ya ugly ass was 24, you were pushing 30? I’m 34. I’m pushing 40? Lol. And what does that have to do with my music?”
