Attorney Ben Crump Sues Beverly Hills Police Department

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is suing the city of Beverly Hills and the captain of the police department over a program called “Operation Safe Streets.”

During this operation 106 people were arrested, with 105 being Black and one being Latino. Anita Bennett joins BNC to give more details on the lawsuit. Khalil White and his girlfriend Jasmine Williams visited Rodeo Drive and were riding a scooter, but then were arrested and falsely accused by the police. White spent a night in jail and had to pay $25,000. “The arrest was traumatizing and I definitely don’t think that we deserve it at all,” White said. Crump said that Beverly Hills police do not arrest white people who are involved in the same types of activities and believes this is definitely racial profiling.
