Somehow, some way, J.R. Smith gathered enough strength to play in the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ road win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, a day after learning that his cousin tragically died in a house fire on Sunday, as reported by ESPN.

After scoring 11 points to help the Cavs score a 113-91 victory, Smith declined to speak to reporters about his late cousin, whose name and age haven’t been revealed just yet.

But J.R. did take to his Instagram account to dedicate this heartbreaking post to his late cousin.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

ESPN additionally reported that Smith formerly lived with this cousin.

Rest in peace to J.R. Smith’s cousin and prayers to his family.
