Is Derrick Rose Thinking About Walking Away From The $80 Million Left On His Adidas Deal? | Sports philton4 December 11, 2017 Sports Well, the 29-year-old former NBA MVP possibly considering retirement would spell him also walking away from the $80 million left on his Adidas deal. According to ESPN, Rose has seven seasons remaining on the whopping 13-year, $185 million extension he inked with Adidas in 2012. If Rose decides to officially retire, that remaining $80 million on the table will not be paid out. Two months after signing that mammoth extension, Rose tore the ACL in his left knee during the Chicago Bulls‘ 2012 playoff opener. That sparked a wave of injuries that have plagued the point guard’s career, causing him to play in only 237 of a possible 412 regular-season games. Rose has played in only five of the Cavs’ past 17 games, including missing eight straight games, largely in part to a sprained left ankle. That being said, Rose has always demonstrated the ability to rehab and recover enough to return to the court and be a serviceable player. Since signing a veterans minimum contract with the Cavs in the off season, Rose was averaging 14.3 points per game before his latest injury and reported decision to take a leave from the team. Do you think Rose will return to the court or will he retire and walk away from $80 million from Adidas?
